Features & Specifications

The Slimline 18-bottle wine cooler is a thermoelectric model with two temperature storage compartments that can – as you can tell from the name – hold a total of 18 wine bottles (standard 750 ml. size).  The upper storage compartment is ideal for reds, as it can be set to temperatures ranging from 54 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit, wheres as lower zone is perfect for both reds and chilling whites, since it can be set between 46 and 66 degrees Fahrenheit.

This is a very sleek and modern looking wine cooler, with a crisp digital touch pad and display and nice interior LED illumination to show off your wine and the cooler as well.  The steel-framed door is composed largely of Thermopane glass that has been “smoked” to provide additional UV light blocking capacity. A total of (7)  removable chrome shelves are included.

Among wine coolers, this unit is particularly tall and slim, measuring only 9-7/8 inches wide, 20-1/4 inches deep, and 37-1/2 in height.  Please take note that this is a free standing unit that must be located at least a few inches from any rear wall and adjacent to an open area to permit proper venting. Do not use this as a built in model.

Reviews and Ratings

Wine coolers often receive harsh reviews; however, this model has earned an impressive average satisfaction rating of 4.2 out of 5.0 stars on based on a 25 total reviews.  These numbers obviously mean that this wine cooler is well-liked, but what exactly are people saying?

In general, users give the Wine Enthusiast 18-Bottle high marks for its slim design, decent capacity, stable cooling, attractive design and generally quiet operation.  Here is an excerpt from an actual review that sums up the sentiment across the majority of the reviews succinctly:

5stars“It is just how it was described. I love the size. It is just slightly taller than counter top height and its narrow design make it fit in well. It’s really quiet and holds temperature well.”

Most of the negative reviews focused on operation noise.  However, we find these reports a bit odd, since so many users reported very quiet to near-silent operation.  It’s also important to keep dust filters clean and keep the unit at least a few inches away from any back wall to keep the cooler working smoothly and quietly. Apart from the noise issue, some reviewers complained about limited storage capacity.  Always remember that manufacturer capacity ratings assume you are using 750 ml. standard Bordeaux bottles. For bigger/odd size bottles, assume you can hold 50-75% of the number of bottles stated.
